Things to Know about Lodging Signage
When you go to a hotel, do you notice the lodging signs? Do they have tactile letters are braille on them? According to the American’s with Disabilities Act, all hotels, motels, inns, and apartment complexes must adhere to the ADA guidelines. This includes accessible rooms and suites and signage.

Wayfinding signs play a huge role in removing barriers for those with disabilities and make sure that their stay Is fun and comfortable. Lodging signs help guests, employees, and others who are working on site in order to make sure that they are going in the right direction. Room number signs are very helpful when it comes to navigating huge hotels, for instance.
It is very important to ensure that all guests know where they are at all times. Having custom braille or tactile sign for your rooms can help. You can also customize them to fit with the design of the hotel or inn for a more aesthetic type of feel.

ADA room name signs are important as well. These are required by the ADA law as well. These room name signs include restrooms, waiting rooms, meeting rooms, etc. Making sure that these signs are quipped with braille or tactile letters is essential.
Safety signs are also essential on virtually any type of property. Having signs that let you know a certain area is for electrical or employees only can help ensure that your guests stay safe and away from any potentially harmful machinery. Make sure you have all exits, staircases, and floor level signs visible and reachable for every guest in case of emergency.
In our previous post, we discussed wayfinding signs in detail, but it is important to ensure that you have these signs in your facilities. The last thing you want is for someone to get hurt because they walked somewhere they shouldn’t have been!
We suggest that you take a walk around your facility or property to ensure that you have visible signage and make note of areas that may require ADA compliant signs.
